2017ம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்டு மாதம், தினகரனுக்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவித்த 18 எம்.எல்.ஏக்கள், முதல்வர் எடப்பாடி பழனிச்சாமிக்கு அளித்த ஆதரவை வாபஸ் பெறுவதாக ஆளுநரிடம் கடிதம் கொடுத்தனர். இதையடுத்து, அவர்களை சபாநாயகர் தனபால் தகுதி நீக்கம் செய்தார். அதை எதிர்த்து சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டது.
